AGIS

The AGIS project is designed to fight against bullying and violence in the school milieu by offering young people a prevention tool created and developed by and for young people between 12 and 17 years of age. This tool is directed towards the positive involvement of young WITNESSES who play a determinant role in the tragic outcome of bullying situations. The support of Info-Crime Montreal has permitted this project to be set up in the eastern region of Montreal.

Card game for senior citizens

This prevention and communications tool is designed to offer information concerning the problem of financial exploitation. In the form of a card game, it seeks to sensitize the population, more specifically senior citizens, on the means to prevent scams and frauds in various forms. The prevention messages, developed in close collaboration with the Economic and Property Crimes Division (DCEP) of the SPVM, are designed to reach this clientele, often the targets of fraudsters.

E=MC2 | Équipe multidisciplinaire de concertation communautaire

Between July 16 and September 28, 2020, the PDQ 21 of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the CIUSSS du Center-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal and the Société de développement social (SDS) deploy the multidisciplinary community consultation team, E = MC2, at Jardins Gamelin.

This pilot projet test is made possible thanks to the financial contribution of Info-Crime Montreal as well as the collaboration of the Ville-Marie borough and the Quartier des spectacles Partnership which hosts E = MC2 on the Jardins Gamelin site. E = MC2 is made up of patrollers, socio-community agents and a community consultation agent from the SPVM; social workers paired with nurses or educators from the CIUSSS and social mediators from the SDS. Each of the partner organizations is installed at Jardins Gamelin in a container that has been transformed into a service counter (or module). Each module provides access to services adapted to the needs of people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming, wherever they are, in their living environment.

The partners of E = MC2 intend to facilitate access for these people to the health, social and community services network, direct them and support them to help resources. Being disaffiliated from institutions, vulnerable people in the sector will be able to benefit from services that they do not necessarily seek themselves.This partnership work aims to promote better concertation of actions in order to better intervene with vulnerable people in this sector. While favoring a different occupation of a public space, E = MC2 also has for but to reduce the number of repetitive interventions with the same people, and indirectly to decrease the tensions in order to ensure a harmonious cohabitation and to reinforce the feeling of security.

EMIC | Équipe Métro d’Intervention et de Concertation

The project's mission is to jointly support the patrollers of the Metro Section as well as the inspectors of the SCSTM in matters of roaming.

Together (SPVM / SCSTM / SDS) offer metro users a safe experience and offer people in very precarious situations a coherent service offering that takes into account their needs as well as their weaknesses. An extremely vulnerable common clientele that unfortunately often struggles with mental health problems, drug addiction and other concomitant disorders. The project makes it possible to achieve the following objectives, reduce the number of calls and interventions related to the phenomenon of homelessness, ensure consistency in the field intervention between the SPVM and the SCSTM, improve the quality of life of people experiencing homelessness, support and refer to the Mobile Roaming Reference and Intervention Team.

Money pouch

Money pouch

The money pouch project (the money pouch is a small purse which elderly persons can put around their neck to hold their personal effects so as to minimize the risk of theft of their pouch on the street), with FADOQ, in collaboration with the SPVM, seeks to protect older people who are too often the victims of theft. It is a real protection tool for our senior citizens.This year, the money pouch earned the 2009 prize of excellence, during a meeting in Quebec. 

Providing a framework to handle bullying

This project is designed to offer the members of school personnel at the secondary level with a strategy for the prevention and a global and structured intervention to act on the problem of bullying. This project proposes a process which involves all of the players concerned with this problem, by particularly targeting the bully, so as to prevent repeats.

Rebondi

«Rebondi» project is an opportunity for the police to forge a link with young people through the gift of soccer or basketball, whether during a service call at a park patrol or during more formal activities such as conferences or workshops. The project reflects the importance of communicating, teamwork, making efforts to obtain results and other values ​​associated with sport.

Students in the race

"Students in the race" is a project inspired by "Students Run LA", a project which has been successful for the past 20 years and which produces some very concrete results. In 2009, for example, almost 3,000 participating young people took part in the L.A. Marathon. According to those responsible for the American program, 92% of the young people registered in the « Students Run LA » program obtained their secondary level diploma, which represents a significant success given their precarious situation. « Students in the race » seeks to encourage young people to have good life hygiene, a better academic performance, a greater social integration and above all to permit them to meet the challenges of the Marathon Oasis de Montréal. Study bursaries are awarded to students who complete the program and the marathon.

United without violence

This program aims to prevent violence and eduquate children about the different forms of violence that may be present in schools. This year, the program was implemented in 36 schools in Montreal. We reach 90 classes of fifth and sixth grade, for a total of 1 678 students. Info-Crime Montreal gets involved in the project by supporting the United without violence Day and a special video contest for students.

World Soccer Tournament

World Soccer Tournament

The World Soccer Tournament is a project that aims to mobilize young people from immigrant and disadvantaged families through summer training of eight weeks. It also aims to make them live a major event during the summer and to bring together police and youth in a friendly atmosphere. The culmination of the project is a soccer tournament between young people from different neighborhoods in Montreal, sponsored by the SPVM and the city of Montreal, which took place at Saputo Stadium last August. Info-Crime Montreal participated in the project by financing jerseys for 800 young players, as well as medals and some soccer balls used during the tournament.
